From the first stone to the final details, you will work through the process yourself rather than simply watching a demonstration.
You will receive individual guidance and plenty of time to discuss your own stonework project.

You will receive a certificate and gain practical skills that are difficult to learn from books or videos alone.
Our courses are for anyone who wants to learn practical stonework or strengthen their existing skills. Whether you are a complete beginner, a self-employed tradesperson, a gardener, a homeowner, a landscape professional or simply someone fascinated by traditional craftsmanship, you will learn principles that you can apply to your own projects.
No previous stoneworking experience is required. International participants are welcome, and you do not need to speak Czech – practical instruction is delivered by the Czech instructor with a professional English interpreter present throughout the course.
No wall will last without a properly prepared foundation. You will learn how to prepare the ground, how deep to excavate, how to level the first layer of gravel or stone and why the foundation determines the stability of the entire structure. We will also show you how to read the terrain and understand the factors that affect stability.
We will show you the tools commonly used when working with natural stone and dry stone structures. You will learn how to handle them safely and accurately and use them directly during the practical work. If you have your own favourite tools, you are welcome to bring them and discuss their use with the instructor.
The first course determines how stable and straight the entire wall will be. You will learn how to select suitable stones, position them correctly and create a strong load-bearing base. We will also explain how individual stones lock together and how to work safely with heavier material.
A properly built dry stone wall holds together without mortar. You will learn the principles of layering and bonding stones so that the structure works through weight, friction and correct placement. Understanding these principles will allow you to make better decisions even when every stone has a different shape.
A properly finished wall is not only stronger but also visually cleaner. We will explain how to build wall ends and corners, how to complete the final course and how technical requirements and appearance come together in the finished structure.
At the end of the course, you will receive a non-accredited certificate of completion confirming your participation and practical experience.
There will also be time for an open discussion about your own projects. You can ask about suitable stone, construction methods, tools, materials, sourcing stone, pricing or practical problems you expect to encounter when working at home.

“I created these courses so that you can experience the work with your own hands and leave with something no one can take away from you – real practical experience that you can use again on your own projects. No unnecessary theory. Just stone, tools and hands-on work.”
I will be with you throughout the practical training, showing you what works, what to watch out for and how an experienced stone builder approaches each stone and each construction decision. The courses are suitable for complete beginners as well as participants with some previous experience.
For international courses, I teach in Czech and a professional English interpreter is present throughout the day, so you can follow the explanations, ask questions and discuss your own project directly with me.
The course takes place outdoors, but you do not need to worry about the weather disrupting the day.
